Restless Minds, Restless Nights: Untangling ADHD & Sleep

About this course

1 hour 10 minute Training Available On Demand

Explore the multidirectional relationship between ADHD and sleep. This training supports how to differentiate between the various types of sleep difficulties and their causes. We examine the major categories of contributors to sleep disruptions: physiological/medical, environmental & sensory, nervous system & emotional, and cognitive & behavioral so you can identify which category is creating the difficulty and apply strategies that actually address the underlying cause.

You’ll also learn about common co-occurring sleep disorders such as Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome and the dynamics of “revenge bedtime procrastination.” We’ll discuss how ADHD experiences with sleep may not fall into traditional sleep hygeine approaches and what to do instead.

Walk away with clarity on how to utilize a neurodiversity-affirming approach to assessing and addressing sleep issues when considering ADHD.

Participants will receive:

-Copy of training slides

-Additional Training resources and references including chart and list of questions to assist with differential diagnosis

-Sample Treatment Plan Goals/Objectives/Interventions written in neurodiversity-affirming language

-ADHD & Sleep 2 Page Handout you can share with clients
