Learn all about Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and how to confidently identify PMDD in your menstruating clients. This training provides an in-depth exploration of the diagnostic criteria, diagnostic process, and how to differentiate PMDD from other mental health diagnoses and hormonal transition periods such as puberty and perimenopause.
We’ll examine the frequent co-occurrence of PMDD with ADHD and Autism and explore key intersections that impact client experiences. The training also highlights the unique considerations for trans men and nonbinary individuals, as well as the intersections of race and cultural context in understanding PMDD.
After reviewing clinical implications, we’ll discuss both medical and alternative treatment options and introduce a therapeutic framework for supporting clients through intense, cycle-related mood shifts. Additionally, we’ll cover strategies to support clients in communicating with loved ones about PMDD, equipping them with language and resources to advocate for their needs.
This 1 hour 40 minute training is presented by a clinician with lived experience of both PMDD and ADHD and is grounded in a neurodiversity-affirming approach.
Participants will receive:
- Copy of training slides
- Symptom tracking forms
- Summary of training information, including examples of neurodiversity affirming treatment goals, objectives and interventions related to PMDD, resources and research references
- PMDD Handout that can be shared with clients
